Belleville Festival of Lights
The Belleville Festival of Lights serves as the unofficial kick-off to the holiday season. Thousands visit annually; it truly is a must-see event for all residents and visitors alike. The festival features an array of lights, movements and sounds. It runs from mid-November into the New Year in Jane Forrester Park.
What started as a small, loving tribute to Billy Foster and Art “Sonny” Culloden whose lives were taken in a tragic car accident on Christmas Eve in 1958, has come a testament to family love and the true spirit of Christmas.
This year celebrates the 61st year of the display. From November 20, 2020 to January 4, 2021, you can enjoy the light displays throughout several different parks along the waterfront trail. These include Victoria Park, Driscoll Parkette, Jane Forrester Park, South Foster Park/Memory Lane and Bayshore Trail Playground, as well as Rotary Fitness Park along the Keegan Parkway.
Visitors can drive the 5.8 km trip beginning at Front and Station St. Then, travel through the Downtown where lights brightly shine. Along with the lights and displays brightening the streets, merchants have also adorned their windows with holiday merchandise. Continue south of Dundas St and turn right into Victoria Park where penguin and polar bear light displays greet you.
