Emily Burgess & The Emburys at Signal
October 23 @ 8:45 pm$15
Emily Burgess & The Emburys were named ‘Best New Group’ at The Maple Blues Awards in 2019. At the heart of this Peterborough, Ontario trio is creative songwriting, harmonies, and a group sound that is as dynamic as it is inventive.
Emily Burgess (guitar/vocals), and Marcus Browne (drums/vocals) have steered the ship of this mighty little group since 2017, with Dawson McManus joining on bass in 2019.
In very short order, the band has travelled every direction, criss-crossing the continent from Electric City, WA to Hubbards, NS, from Thunder Bay, ON to Atlanta, GA, wowing audiences with their big sound and unassuming nature.
The trio is guided, influenced, and inspired by renowned American/Canadian rockers, The Weber Brothers, who produced Burgess’ first album ‘Are We in Love?’. CBC music journalist Bob Mersereau called the album “A Big Winner”, and “Empowering”. John Valenteyn of The Maple Blues Newsletter wrote“…she has a knack for writing attractive tunes that feature her biting lead guitar…a combination not often heard”. The album was #18 on Stingray Blues Channel’s most played albums of 2018, and featured in Joe Bonamassa’s blog ‘Blues Bands to check out in 2018’.
The group is primed and ready to roll out the red carpet for a brand new 11-track album they have been pouring over for the last year… ‘Never-Ending Fling’ is due out October 2019.
