A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Belleville

Pinnacle Playhouse 256 Pinnacle Street, Belleville, Ontario

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most well-loved comedies. Join us at the Pinnacle Playhouse from November 28th to December 15th. Evening shows run from 7:30 to 10:00 and the Sunday matinees run from 2:00 to 4:30pm. “The course of true love never did run smooth,” says Lysander, and so it is for four young romantics who run from the world that seeks to keep them apart and into the night woods where they are ensnared in the surreal realm of the Fairies. This is no flowery haven but the playground of the quarreling Titania and Oberon and his fairy subject Puck who ensures that his master’s love potion throws all who enter into a dizzying dream where he can beguile and bend them. Caught in this dreamy web are the hapless ham actors from town who think to secretly rehearse their craft by night in the woods but flee from their hilarious leader Nick Bottom who becomes the toy of the fairy prankster Puck. As the sun sets, step into the spellbound woods and discover that the desires and dreams of young indulged lovers are no less passionate than those of the “hempen homespun” Nick Bottom and awaken to a world of hearts made kinder by the power of love and imagination.

We Thrive Wellness Centre 161 Front St., Downtown Belleville

Join us for a night of laughter and awareness at our Stand Up for Mental Health™ comedy show! This unique event provides a platform for folks who live with mental health challenges to share their stories through stand-up comedy. Each of the amateur comics – Heather Armstrong, Janet Richards, Luisa Sorrentino, Holly Von Michalofski, Johanna Goodfellow and Kari Fraser – have completed a 6-week comedy training program to develop their set, under the coaching of Mental Health Counsellor and Comedian David Granirer – Founder of Stand Up for Mental Health™. Join our encouraging audience and show your support for mental health awareness, while enjoying a night of hilarious performances. David will emcee the evening from Vancouver (virtually) in this creative and intimate behind-the-scenes show. In the second half of the evening, enjoy honest conversation about the SMH experience and living well with mental health challenges during our panel discussion.
