DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: April 2 – April 30 \nThe Quinte Arts Council invites the public to experience Carto / Topo / Geo / Graphic: Rediscovering Lost Maps\, a captivating new exhibition by artist and illustrator Carl Wiens. \nThis body of work represents the culmination of a year of collecting\, clipping\, collaging\, and painting\, drawing inspiration from vintage maps and atlases. Through layered compositions and intricate details\, Wiens transforms historical cartographic materials into contemporary artworks\, revealing new narratives and visual landscapes. Maps become both medium and metaphor—charting journeys through imagination\, memory\, and discovery. \nCarl Wiens has enjoyed a successful career in the arts spanning more than 30 years. His work is deeply inspired by science and the natural world\, with a particular fascination for robots\, insects\, and the universe. In addition to his studio practice\, Carl teaches science and technology–based illustration at Sheridan College\, where he continues to be inspired by the creativity and dedication of emerging illustrators. \nHis work has received international recognition from organizations including the Society of Illustrators\, American Illustration\, 3×3 Magazine\, and the Applied Arts Awards. His illustrations have appeared in publications such as The New York Times\, The Wall Street Journal\, Time\, Forbes\, Barron’s\, and Esquire. His book projects include The Science of Song\, Wild Buildings and Bridges\, and FINNA. \nWhen he’s not creating illustrations\, Carl enjoys cycling\, kayaking\, stargazing\, chopping wood\, and playing hockey. Time spent outdoors and surrounded by nature continues to fuel his creativity. \nFeatured Artwork:\nNight Swimmer\n12 × 12″ collage on panel \nJoin us for the opening reception on April 2 from 4–6 PM and explore a unique artistic journey where geography\, memory\, and imagination intersect.

DESCRIPTION:Night Kitchen Too\, Belleville’s unique musical variety show\, has been entertaining enthusiastic audiences from the Quinte Region for 12 years. Over that time\, hundreds of local singers\, musicians\, poets and storytellers have graced the stage at The Pinnacle Playhouse in downtown Belleville\, Ontario. \nInvited performers have a sound check an hour before Showtime at 7:30 pm. Each act gets approximately 5 minutes or one song/poem and the Feature act usually has 3 opportunities to entertain the always receptive NKT audiences. \nTickets are still $15 and available at The Playhouse. DESCRIPTION:Exhibition Dates: April 2 – April 30 \nThe Quinte Arts Council invites the public to experience Carto / Topo / Geo / Graphic: Rediscovering Lost Maps\, a captivating new exhibition by artist and illustrator Carl Wiens. \nThis body of work represents the culmination of a year of collecting\, clipping\, collaging\, and painting\, drawing inspiration from vintage maps and atlases. Through layered compositions and intricate details\, Wiens transforms historical cartographic materials into contemporary artworks\, revealing new narratives and visual landscapes. Maps become both medium and metaphor—charting journeys through imagination\, memory\, and discovery. \nCarl Wiens has enjoyed a successful career in the arts spanning more than 30 years. His work is deeply inspired by science and the natural world\, with a particular fascination for robots\, insects\, and the universe. In addition to his studio practice\, Carl teaches science and technology–based illustration at Sheridan College\, where he continues to be inspired by the creativity and dedication of emerging illustrators. \nHis work has received international recognition from organizations including the Society of Illustrators\, American Illustration\, 3×3 Magazine\, and the Applied Arts Awards. His illustrations have appeared in publications such as The New York Times\, The Wall Street Journal\, Time\, Forbes\, Barron’s\, and Esquire. His book projects include The Science of Song\, Wild Buildings and Bridges\, and FINNA. \nWhen he’s not creating illustrations\, Carl enjoys cycling\, kayaking\, stargazing\, chopping wood\, and playing hockey. Time spent outdoors and surrounded by nature continues to fuel his creativity. \nFeatured Artwork:\nNight Swimmer\n12 × 12″ collage on panel \nJoin us for the opening reception on April 2 from 4–6 PM and explore a unique artistic journey where geography\, memory\, and imagination intersect.

DESCRIPTION:A Welcoming Invitation \nWe invite arts organizations\, artists\, and community members to come together in a spirit of respect\, curiosity\, and shared responsibility. This gathering offers a space to listen\, learn\, and build relationships grounded in allyship and understanding. \nLed by Dr. Terri-Lynn Brennan and Christine Friday in partnership with ArtsBuild Ontario\, this session will explore how we can collectively support Indigenous creative spaces and strengthen our roles as Treaty partners. \nAbout the Session \nThis interactive working session focuses on the intersection of allyship\, Indigenous creative spaces\, and self-determination. Together\, we will: \nExplore how arts organizations can build respectful\, reciprocal relationships with Indigenous artists and communities\nReflect on organizational practices and how they can better support Indigenous sovereignty and self-determined spaces\nLearn from the guiding principles of the Two-Row Wampum and the Paddling Upstream framework\nDevelop approaches rooted in humility\, respect\, and deeper cultural understanding \nThis workshop also marks the culmination of a four-year Indigenous Creative Spaces Project—bringing together Indigenous artists and leaders from across Ontario to share knowledge\, strengthen networks\, and support the growth of Indigenous-led creative spaces. \nJoin Us \nThis is an opportunity to be part of an important and ongoing conversation—one that centres Indigenous voices\, honours relationships\, and supports a more inclusive and equitable future in the arts. \nAll are welcome.
