We’re welcoming Victor back to our taproom! Raised in Eastern Ontario, Canada, Victor is one of eight children. He spent most of his childhood either climbing trees, or writing music. Soon music took over and for the past twenty years Victor has been writing his own material. His folksy sound and vocal range allow him to express himself through originals as well as a very wide variety of covers from Johnny Cash to Michael Jackson. Victor is also co-owner of a creative agency called eighty Twenty studio in Belleville, Ontario which acts as a second outlet for his creativity. Married to Jodi Cooper since 2004, he finds her to be great inspiration for much of his music.

The Belleville Santa Claus Parade is back on Sunday, Nov. 16! The parade will begin at Bridge Street West and Sidney Street at 4:30 p.m. and travel down Bridge Street through downtown Belleville before ending at the corner of Herchimer Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. Join us before the parade at Glanmore National Historic Site for pre-parade festivities including free admission from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Visitors can explore the historic house with its seasonal exhibitions and even make a simple ornament to take home. Rotary’s Reindeer Village will also once again be set up in Robin Jeffrey Park, complete with both light-up and live reindeer and free hot chocolate while supplies last. Don’t forget your letters for Santa and donations for Gleaners and the Firefighters Toy Drive!

Belleville Public Library's Adult Chess Club is for ages 18 and up. The club meets every Monday at 5:30pm. Bring your own chess board or borrow one from the library and meet with fellow chess players for a friendly game. All skill levels are invited to this informal, self-led program. Stacey Kerr is the Exhibit and Programs Coordinator for the Quinte Museum of Natural History, where she has been working for the last year to develop the upcoming feature exhibit “Expedition Alert: Stories from the High Arctic”. This exhibit will showcase the biodiversity that lives around Alert, Nunavut, the northernmost continuously inhabited place on Earth. Stacey is using her experience in environmental storytelling to create an exhibit that invites visitors to explore the unique and sometimes alien world of the Polar Desert through a series of interactive displays showcasing research by scientists from the University of Quebec at Rimouski. Inuit traditional knowledge, or Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, will connect visitors to the land and the lived experience of climate change through key elements of the exhibit, a reminder that multiple worldviews are critical to understanding our world. This presentation for the Quinte Field Naturalists will provide a sneak peek of a few key stories that will be included in Expedition Alert, including tales of impressive migration, fascinating adaptations, and ultimately resilience in the face of mounting climate change. Stacey will also share some of the challenges and learning experiences of creating an Arctic exhibit for an audience “down South”, as well as some exciting new technology-based museum elements that will help bring the exhibit to life in a whole new way for an intergenerational audience.

Bridging Communities – Crochet Circle with artist/educator Emebet Belete
Emebet’s current art project is Bridging Communities, a large-scale art installation where community members will create crochet, and cover the downtown Front Street Bridge in stripes, blocks and patterns! Over the past year, she has taught and involved students in six area schools in the art of crochet.
Open for youth and adults, experienced and beginners, individuals, families and friends!

Hosted by musician Ray Flood our Open Mic format style session is open to all levels, genres, music, instruments, poetry, spoken word storytellers and comedy. Most recently, Ray has been busy hosting and running Open Mics and Mini Festivals in the Belleville and Colbourn areas. Ray’s easy going manner creates a fun event for performers and the audiences alike. He blends seasoned guest musicians while encouraging new talents to take the stage.
