While February shouldn’t be the only month of the year to celebrate Black history and culture, it’s definitely an opportunity to bring added attention to the many achievements and contributions of Black Canadians and their communities both today and throughout history.
Here are some highlights to look forward to this Black History Month…
February 1: African Arts Institute presents an evening of music, dance, poetry, and visual arts with an exciting lineup of artists! Click here to learn more and purchase tickets.
Visit the Belleville Public Library , where you will find will displays, and suggestions for reading material about Black history and culture in Canada and around the world, as well as books by Black authors.
February 15: Special guest speaker Nikki Clarke will be discussing the pivotal contributions of Black Canadians to the nation’s innovative landscape, spanning entrepreneurship, technology, arts, and social progress. Learn more here.
Visit Glanmore Museum, who will also be hosting Portraits of Black History in Belleville all month long.
