Black Canadian Innovation: Looking to the Past to Face the Future – Belleville Library

Hear special guest speaker Nikki Clarke speak about the pivotal contributions of Black Canadians to the nation’s innovative landscape, spanning entrepreneurship, technology, arts, and social progress. This presentation examines historical achievements and their influence on present-day advancements, showcasing how resilience, creativity, and community have driven impactful change.

Attendees will learn about the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Black Canadian innovators, with actionable strategies to inspire the next generation. A Q&A session will conclude the presentation, encouraging audience engagement and collaboration.

Nikki Clarke is a dynamic entrepreneur, media personality, and community leader with a passion for empowering others.Nikki Is the Immediate Past President of the Ontario Black History Society. She is the founder and host of the award-winning Nikki Clarke Show, which has been a platform for amplifying inspiring stories and promoting emerging talent for over 16 years. A talented author, Nikki has penned books such as I Can Care but Can’t Carry and The Paperclip Princess, showcasing her versatility as a storyteller.

Nikki is also a GrowthWheel Certified Business Advisor and the National Business and Membership Manager for the Canadian Black Chamber of Commerce, supporting Black businesses across Canada. Her work extends to public speaking, where she captivates audiences at events like the AU Caricom Summit and the Peace Ambassadors Gala. Whether as a performer, advocate, or mentor, Nikki continues to inspire change and foster resilience in communities everywhere.
