• Miss Emily with the Commodores’ Orchestra

Empire Theatre 321 Front Street, Belleville

Prepare to be blown away. With a voice “that must be heard to be believed” (Rob Baker, The Tragically Hip), Kingston’s Miss Emily weaves blues, country and rock together in a spellbinding, major-award-winning blend. “The best pipes I’ve ever heard,” according to Gene Simmons. The 17-piece Commodores Orchestra has provided swing music accompaniment to life in the Quinte Region since the Roaring Twenties. As the historic ensemble nears its 100th anniversary in 2028, the Commodores have adapted their big band sound to much acclaim from modern audiences, thanks to the contributions of some of Canada’s finest Grammy and Juno level musicians. But make no mistake. It’s still a Belleville and Quinte-based band; two-thirds of its players live less than half an hour away. Miss Emily and the Commodores will have you wondering why nobody thought of this before.
