Come and play the drums with us! Every Friday at the QAC Cultural Hub – join us for classes and learn to play African drums such as djembe, kpanlogo, and gome. Learn proper technique, learn several parts to a song, and join in an ensemble that will shake the house! Along with playing, learn about the history of the drums, how they are made, and the cultural significance of the music we will play. How to reserve your spot: Isaac Nii Akrong Events – 4 Upcoming Activities and Tickets | Eventbrite Cost: $10 / general admission Cash at the door Location: Quinte Arts Council, 36 Bridge Street East, Belleville, ON Time: Every Friday 5:30-6:30 pm For all ages and experience levels Drums provided, first-come, first-served Note about accessibility: The Quinte Arts Council is currently in process of upgrading their space. Seedy Saturday is a community event for the sharing of seeds and gardening expertise. The event is sponsored by the City of Belleville, the Belleville Garden Club and Quinte Conservation. Local community groups and market vendors include: Gleaners, Community Development Council (community gardens), Natural Themes Nursery, TerraEdibles, DropSeed Nursery, Fiddleheads Farms, Thyme Again Gardens, Master Gardeners and more. The focus of Seedy Saturday is to promote biodiversity in food production and to help address food security issues in our community.

Join us for Black Roots in Belleville and the Quinte Region, a presentation that explores the meaningful history of Black presence, resilience, and contribution in the area. This presentation will look at the stories of early Black settlers, family legacies, and the region’s connections to freedom-seeking routes and community building, showing how Black history is not separate from Canadian history, but an essential part of it. The presentation also highlights Black innovation, and the many ways Black Canadians have contributed to entrepreneurship, agriculture, craftsmanship, education, media, and social change both locally and across the country. No registration required. All are welcome! This talk will take place in the 3rd floor Meeting Room. Special Guest Speaker Dr. Nikki Clarke Dr. Nikki Clarke is a multi-award-winning media personality, author, educator, and community leader. She is the Chair of the Quinte Cultural Innovation Committee and the host and producer of The Nikki Clarke Show, a nationally recognized television and digital platform now in its 17th year. A former educator and passionate advocate for inclusive storytelling, Dr. Clarke is the author of The Paperclip Princess, I Can Care but Can’t Carry, and the Black Canadian History Coloring Book. She is the immediate past President of the Ontario Black History Society. Through media, education, and community engagement, she amplifies underrepresented voices and champions the understanding of Black history as an integral part of Canadian history.

Belleville Public Library's Adult Chess Club is for ages 18 and up. The club meets every Monday at 5:30pm. Bring your own chess board or borrow one from the library and meet with fellow chess players for a friendly game. All skill levels are invited to this informal, self-led program. Bridging Communities – Crochet Circle with artist/educator Emebet Belete Emebet’s current art project is Bridging Communities, a large-scale art installation where community members will create crochet, and cover the downtown Front Street Bridge in stripes, blocks and patterns! Over the past year, she has taught and involved students in six area schools in the art of crochet. Open for youth and adults, experienced and beginners, individuals, families and friends!

Rhymes With Orange Music Club is an inclusive gathering meant to encourage and develop new ideas. It’s a new concept – three hours once a month dedicated to taking us all into uncharted territory.
