Heads up! Sunday July 27 (1-3pm) at Belleville’s UpFront Café. The next show in The Songwriters Orbit series features Terri Clancy and Mason Forsey-Mackinnon in performance and conversation! Cozy up with a coffee or beer and enjoy some great original Folk and Alternative music. Cover charge: $10. TERRI CLANCY is a multi-disciplined singer-songwriter and visual artist. Originally from Toronto, he is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design. Terri relocated to Hastings county and now finds himself living at the end of a dirt road somewhere north of Madoc. Terri’s latest project “Songs About Paintings Of Stories” brings the visual arts in the form of paintings alongside the music to tell a story of journey and discovery through song. His artwork, singing, and writing come together in an inseparable combination in his song compositions. Terri says he tries to live a creative life. Looking at things from different perspectives, being open, and empathetic to all the wonder that surrounds us. Some of his influences include Laurie Anderson, Peter Gabriel, Nick Cave, The Bad Seeds and David Bowie, as well as contemporary artists like Lorde, Aurora and Billie Eillish. MASON FORSEY-MACKINNON is a 21 year old singer-songwriter from Belleville Ontario. Through performing live over 5 years he has developed his own style that blends rock with folk, blues and jazz. At his shows the audience can expect catchy hooks, layered metaphors as well as intricate and experimental guitar work. In 2024 he graduated from the Music and Digital Media program at St Lawrence College Kingston. STEPHEN BRUCE MEDD (Host) is a performing songwriter of historical ballads and spiritual songs. These songs are inspired by Canadian history; the remote and beautiful landscapes he explored as a geologist; and environmental and social issues of the day. Stephen’s most recent project entitled, “If Lilacs Could Sing” is a book of ballads and accompanying recordings about fascinating historical moments and people of Upper Canada and Colonial America. In 1999-2000 Stephen recorded 3 Spiritual-Folk songs that he wrote for Avril Lavigne that were her first studio recordings before being discovered by the music industry. Some of his influences include Gordon Lightfoot, Pete Seeger, The Chad Mitchell Trio, Mac Beattie and Celtic Music.

Want to get outside, meet your neighbours, and explore Belleville by bike? Think Belleville’s bad for biking? We’re here to prove the opposite. TL;DR: These are “no drop” rides – no one will be left behind, and we’ll stop often to regroup. All bike types are welcome, and riders must show up for the ride ready and self-sufficient, which means your bike is in working condition, and you have your helmet, bell, lights, water, snacks, and a positive attitude. DON’T MISS this opportunity – Bellville’s only chance to see this unexpected double bill at UpFront Cafe. Brazil’s #1 Celtic Duo, Taverna – and Peterborough’s teenage fiddling phenom, Irish Millie! Audiences don’t just listen to Taverna. They fall in love! Irresistable South American musicians, whose passion, camaraderie, and warmth reveal the true Celtic spirit in all of us. Taverna Duo – Brazil’s premier Celtic duo – features long-time friends and bandmates Gustavo Fofão and Rafael Salobreña. Soul-baring, seafaring, kilt-wearing Celts who just happened to be born in South America. One infuses the music with fingerstyle guitar wizardry and thundering vocals, while using the stage as a percussion instrument. The other is the band’s secret weapon for high energy and dynamics, driving the beat on his “punk rock” bodhran with a wink and a grin. Playing iconic songs from the Celtic repertoire and powered by rocket fuel, they impact the crowd with high-energy stage dynamics, captivating harmonies, and original arrangements that showcase the incredible mastery each has of their instruments. The final product is a unique party session, bringing audiences of all ages to their feet and singing along. Taverna are joined for this show by Irish Millie – a phenomenal teenage fiddler from Peterborough, Ontario and 2024 CFMA Performer of the Year Nominee. Irish Millie recorded her first album – Thirteen – at 13 years old. That project earned her a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Young Performer of the Year. Together with her band The Receivers, she was nominated for the same award in 2023 and in 2024 for her EP The Trilogy. She’s toured across Canada, in the US and Europe – and released her second full-length CD, Grace this spring! “I love all fiddle music. I am passionate about the East Coast, Bluegrass and Contemporary Trad styles. I love to play fast-paced, fun, and challenging tunes that get the crowd up on their feet. I also love to write my own music.” Pineapple Productions is pleased and proud to be able to present this rare opportunity to introduce our region to the unexpected pleasures of Taverna along with the pride of Peterborough – teenage fidling phenom – Irish Millie! PLEASE NOTE: Advance Tickets are available online only until midnight Thursday, August 7. Advance Tickets are not available on the day of the show. At-the-door Tickets – if available – are $30 (cash only).

The Tin Cup Annual is a lighthearted golf tournament for all skill levels to help underprivileged youth in Hastings, Prince Edward, and Northumberland counties access sports and extracurricular activities. Inspired by the beloved ’90s golf rom-com Tin Cup, in which roguish underdog Roy McAvoy qualifies for the U.S. Open using only his 7-iron, the tournament format requires participants to use only one club for the entire round. Net proceeds will be donated to The Children’s Foundation Playing for Keeps program which subsidizes registration fees so that financial hardship isn’t a barrier for a child to participate. Because no child should miss out on the soul-crushing experience of a triple bogey. Tournament features:

Want to get outside, meet your neighbours, and explore Belleville by bike? Think Belleville’s bad for biking? We’re here to prove the opposite. TL;DR: These are “no drop” rides – no one will be left behind, and we’ll stop often to regroup. All bike types are welcome, and riders must show up for the ride ready and self-sufficient, which means your bike is in working condition, and you have your helmet, bell, lights, water, snacks, and a positive attitude.
