Join us for three engaging and entertaining one-act plays by local playwrights brought to life by some of the region’s finest actors. The Quinte Region is fast becoming a hotbed of play writing excellence…and we’ve got the proof. From bittersweet to poignant to laugh-out-loud funny, these three plays by Belleville playwrights are sure to have our audiences talking about them long after they’ve left the theatre. “Driving” by Steve Billinger is timely and masterfully written with dialogue as sharp as a knife. It’s an intense tour de force throwing two disparate men together in a sometimes uncomfortable conversation that neither one can escape from. “The Business Behind Us” by Matthew Sheahan is deceptively complex. With finely drawn characters, it’s both a modern morality tale and a mystery wrapped in a seemingly ordinary family story. “After Graduation” by Beth Milligan is short and sweet and as funny as…well…you’ll just have to see it. A master of writing plays that are fun for both actors and audiences, Beth has truly outdone herself with this one. Support local theatre and local writers. See all three plays for one price. That’s a bargain. Tickets are $25 on Eventbrite: https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/act-locally-tickets-1613028925939

Award winning country singer/songwriter Deborah Lynn was born and raised in Stirling Ontario. Traditional country roots with musical influences in folk and classic rock paired with her incredible vocal talent consistently leave audiences wanting to hear more. Deborah Lynn started singing, playing guitar and sharpening her song writing skills from a young age. However, music was put on the backburner after college while she was a small business owner in Toronto. It was a fateful trip to Nashville that reignited her artistic passion and put her on the road to becoming a rising country music artist. There she had the opportunity to play the songwriter’s open mic at the iconic Bluebird Café and join the house band on stage for a couple songs at the famed Tootsies on Broadway. Proud CCMA and CMAO member Deborah Lynn released her debut single April 17th, 2020 called Revive a Ghost. It quickly rose to Number 1 on the Canadian Indie Country Countdown and was nominated for a Josie Award for best female country song. The Josie Awards, hosted in Tennessee, are the largest international Indie Awards show with upwards of 50,000 submissions annually. For Deborah Lynn, watching her debut single rocketing all the way to the top of the Canadian Indie Country chart cemented that decision to jump in with both feet. |

Now we’re bringing that same energy (and hopefully some holiday magic) back for our Christmas Warehouse Sale — to help you shop handmade gifts, stocking stuffers, and all things XXL, just in time for the holidays. XXL Scrunchie started because I made one as a Christmas gift for my cousin — so this season will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for showing up for small business. It truly means the world. — Tina & XXL Scrunchie Team

We’re welcoming Victor back to our taproom! Raised in Eastern Ontario, Canada, Victor is one of eight children. He spent most of his childhood either climbing trees, or writing music. Soon music took over and for the past twenty years Victor has been writing his own material. His folksy sound and vocal range allow him to express himself through originals as well as a very wide variety of covers from Johnny Cash to Michael Jackson. Victor is also co-owner of a creative agency called eighty Twenty studio in Belleville, Ontario which acts as a second outlet for his creativity. Married to Jodi Cooper since 2004, he finds her to be great inspiration for much of his music.

Stacey Kerr is the Exhibit and Programs Coordinator for the Quinte Museum of Natural History, where she has been working for the last year to develop the upcoming feature exhibit “Expedition Alert: Stories from the High Arctic”. This exhibit will showcase the biodiversity that lives around Alert, Nunavut, the northernmost continuously inhabited place on Earth. Stacey is using her experience in environmental storytelling to create an exhibit that invites visitors to explore the unique and sometimes alien world of the Polar Desert through a series of interactive displays showcasing research by scientists from the University of Quebec at Rimouski. Inuit traditional knowledge, or Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, will connect visitors to the land and the lived experience of climate change through key elements of the exhibit, a reminder that multiple worldviews are critical to understanding our world. This presentation for the Quinte Field Naturalists will provide a sneak peek of a few key stories that will be included in Expedition Alert, including tales of impressive migration, fascinating adaptations, and ultimately resilience in the face of mounting climate change. Stacey will also share some of the challenges and learning experiences of creating an Arctic exhibit for an audience “down South”, as well as some exciting new technology-based museum elements that will help bring the exhibit to life in a whole new way for an intergenerational audience.
