Please stop in during the month of April to experience this colourful and surprising exhibit by the talented Wanda Elliott. Opening Night is April 5 from 6-9pm.
Wanda has enjoyed art from a very early age, but was unable to give fully to her passion until retirement as a kindergarten teacher in 2014. She grew up on the coast of Newfoundland, where her Great Aunt Dulcie would spend the winter months hooking rugs to warm the floors. She has taken the art of rug hooking and elevated it, creating rugs to adorn the walls of modern day home. Wanda hook one of a kind rugs by hand out of her home studio in Madoc ON, where she lives with her husband Garry. Proud to call herself a textile artist, she works primarily with 100% wool fabric, yarn, silk, and specialty fibres on linen. Much of her inspiration comes from the colourful homes and rugged shores of Newfoundland, which she calls home.
