CITY OF BELLEVILLE – Giveaway Day is your chance to help neighbours save money while diverting items from landfills and reducing impact on the environment! Our next Giveaway Day will take place on Saturday, April 20, the same day as Quinte West. Any residents interested in taking part are asked to place items at the curb by 8 a.m. on the event day.
Giveaway Day is an eco-friendly community event brought to Belleville by the Green Task Force in 2021 which encourages residents to place no longer wanted, gently used household items at the curb in the spirit of eco-responsibility. Other residents will then have a chance to look through what has been set out and take what they want of the items.
How to Participate:
Items accepted include new or gently used: furniture, small appliances, books, DVDs, kitchen items, renovation materials and more. Please ensure any items placed to the curb are in working condition.
Residents are encouraged to share what they will be putting to the curb on social media in the days leading up to the event using the hashtag #GiveawayDayBelleville to let others know what will be available and on which street, to reduce emissions from driving around.
“Our Giveaway Day event has had great traction over the past few years,” said Chair of the Green Task Force Councillor Chris Malette. “It is a great way to clean out some of those unused items you have laying around your home while, at the same time, helping your neighbours out and diverting waste from our landfills. We hope everyone will take part in our next event on April 20!”
