Lyrics Literacy is a professional development series that Quinte Cultural Innovation Committee (QCIC) is developing for Administrators, S.E.R.Ts and Educators in HPEDSB and ALCDSB.

We invite educators to register and aid in the co-construction of this series intended to help rural Educators gain an understanding of the North American Black experience, so that educators can feel better equipped to serve Black and other racialized students. By unpacking the lyrics of popular culture artists like TI, Chris Brown, DMX, Nas and Akon (the first of our Lyrics Literacy series), we draw attention to the mental health needs and resilience of Black men. Join us from 3pm – 5pm in a private workshop space inside the Smokin’ Bistro (116 Pinnacle Street) to sift through music videos together and engage in active literacy action you can take back into your schools.
