A Midsummer Night’s Dream – Belleville

Pinnacle Playhouse 256 Pinnacle Street, Belleville, Ontario

A Midsummer Night’s Dream is one of Shakespeare’s most well-loved comedies. Join us at the Pinnacle Playhouse from November 28th to December 15th. Evening shows run from 7:30 to 10:00 and the Sunday matinees run from 2:00 to 4:30pm. “The course of true love never did run smooth,” says Lysander, and so it is for four young romantics who run from the world that seeks to keep them apart and into the night woods where they are ensnared in the surreal realm of the Fairies. This is no flowery haven but the playground of the quarreling Titania and Oberon and his fairy subject Puck who ensures that his master’s love potion throws all who enter into a dizzying dream where he can beguile and bend them. Caught in this dreamy web are the hapless ham actors from town who think to secretly rehearse their craft by night in the woods but flee from their hilarious leader Nick Bottom who becomes the toy of the fairy prankster Puck. As the sun sets, step into the spellbound woods and discover that the desires and dreams of young indulged lovers are no less passionate than those of the “hempen homespun” Nick Bottom and awaken to a world of hearts made kinder by the power of love and imagination.

She’s not happy. No, she’s not happy at all. And she’s not the only one who’s stuck. Dianne is stuck at the Gas Bar…about to give birth. That’s okay, though, she’s got Tim there to help. He’s only a teenager, but he lives on a cattle ranch, so he already knows the ropes. Christine is stuck at the Rosewood Model Railroad Club at a potluck with Brian on the worst first date ever. Things could be worse, though. At least they have meatballs and eggnog. Two sad Santas are stuck with each other. Esther is stuck at the funeral parlour with Rose…and Carl…their mutual late ex-husband.
