The Belleville Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the Kiwanis Club of Belleville is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Canada Day, Friday, July 1, 2022, at West Zwick’s Park.
“We are undertaking the pancake breakfast as a source of revenue to replace funds lost due to the inability to have the chicken barbecue (fundraiser),” said Marjorie Buck, Kiwanis Club president.
The breakfast fundraiser starts at 9:30 am and includes pancakes, sausages, and coffee for adults, and juice boxes for children. The cost is $10 for adults, and $8 for children 14 and under, while supplies last.
“We’re doing our best to keep it reasonable,” added Buck. The fundraiser marks the first time that Kiwanis has hosted a pancake breakfast, with the goal of serving 500 people. Buck said that they’re not looking to make a big profit. “We just want people to go outside, and enjoy the morning.”
In the past, the annual chicken barbecue was a major fundraiser for the Kiwanis Club, with proceeds of up to $16,000 supporting children’s programs such as Terrific Kids (a student recognition program) and high school bursaries of $400 per school.
“We’ll do our best to provide for their needs within the limitations of our funds,” said Buck.
Depending on the costs and the availability of volunteers, Kiwanis Club is planning a chicken fundraiser in the fall.
“Our club has been limited in fundraising since the onset of COVID-19, however, our club is not limited to serving the children of our community,” Buck said.
